Steve Livezey, a commercial drone pilot, discovered his passion for aerial photography through an unexpected twist of fate. While serving as the CTO of a travel technology company, Steve attended a conference where he won a DJI Mini 4 Pro drone in a raffle.
For the first couple months, the drone went relatively unused except for a few short recreational flights. However, as a Hawaiian vacation approached, Steve decided to pursue his Part 107 Commercial certificate. During this process, his interest in drones grew into a near obsession. This newfound passion was no coincidence; Steve had grown up immersed in the aviation industry. His father owned and operated several businesses specializing in avionics installation, repair, and airframe completions for both fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters. Steve's first summer job involved sweeping hangar floors at a local municipal airport, performing basic sheet metal work, and assembling wiring harnesses for cockpit instruments.
As Steve researched the drone photography industry with the intent of starting his own company, he became particularly fascinated with drone mapping. This field perfectly combined his aviation background with his extensive experience in technology and software engineering, gained in his professional career after graduating from West Point and serving as a U.S. Army Military Intelligence officer.
This unique blend of experiences and expertise led to the creation of SkyTech Drone Photography, where Steve now offers both aerial photography and drone mapping services.
